Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies - THE RECIPE

1 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg yolk
1 cup margarine (I use butter instead)
3 oz. cream cheese
1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 1/4 cups flour

Combine sugar, salt, margarine (butter), cream cheese, vanilla, almond extract and egg yolk. Blend well. Stir in Flour until well blended.
Chill dough for 30 minutes.

Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees.
Roll dough and cut with cookie cutters.
Bake at 375 degrees for 7-10 minutes.

Decorate with colored sugar crystals before baking, OR after the cookies have cooled, lightly frost with soft frosting (cream cheese flavor is highly recommended!) then sprinkle on the colored sugar before the frosting sets. Give frosting time to set before packing the cookies to go.
